Information on the assessment and interview process and what you can do to prepare
Assessment
For 11+ entry, Girls and Boys will sit the Independent School Examinations Board (ISEB) Common Pre-test papers in English, Maths and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. These are online tests which the pupils will sit at their own schools at the beginning of October.
For 13+ entry 2025, Girls and Boys will sit our own online school exam in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. This will be followed by the Holistic Assessment day.
We do not provide any past or practice papers for any entry point.
We don't encourage intensive tutoring as this can disguise a child's true academic ability, but exam practice to improve time management is always useful, particularly for Verbal Reasoning
Interview
We believe it is important to meet all Boys and Girls who sit the entrance exam, so they will be invited to Berkhamsted Boys and Berkhamsted Girls for a short interview close to the time when they sit the entrance papers. No preparation is required.
